Don't be ashamed or hide your hobbies, especially if you're trying to date someone or even just befriend them. Eventually you'll either have to reveal them (because how could you keep hiding it from them if you saw them more going forward?) or you'll have to legitimately give up something you love. It's not worth giving up a hobby for a friend or a lover, in either case, if they expect that of you, they wouldn't be a good fit for either.
