>>7810875Some portion of IDW homaged or took cues from Marvel, it's separate from the cartoon continuity but references it since there's a lot of time travel, introduced a lot of comic-only characters that got some love, not to mention characterization/interactions/plots that made C-listers like the likes of Blaster/Ratbat/Outback memorable, also the human characters actually aren't absolute shit. It's also how a nobody like Bludgeon was turned into a star. It threw in some curveballs as well, such as multiple time-travelling Galvatrons (and a subsequent time storm), trying to figure out how to defeat Unicron WITHOUT the fucking matrix, etc.
Furman(?) had to create filler stories bc Marvel US was coming out too slow(?) or something, so we got a LOT more content. Since they had to sell toys, some pretenders and powermasters got some time in the spotlight.
