Not far off another artillery battery stands watch, this one an anti-aircraft station. Indeed, this AA unit is directly responsible for the air defense of the unfortunate field gun battery; the day of the explosions their radar noted nothing of consequence, leading the investigators to rule out any kind of aircraft or ranged weapon larger than a mortar round. Owing to the significant distance of both outposts from the frontier (well beyond even the largest mortars) these also seem unlikely candidates for what is looking increasingly like a deliberate act.
The radar operators keep their gaze firmly on their screens; the thought that they somehow missed an enemy incursion or attack that cost the lives of fellow Greens is mortifying, to say the least. A split-second faint flicker on one screen catches the attention of one, who starts to comment on it as his fellow radarman turns to examine the screen...
