Anyone notice the flood of modern figures in the last 10 years that seems to be nothing but discount bait? Toys with little effort put in, relying on shallow gimmicks, both for kids and adults?
What do I mean by Toy Slop? Its all the toys no one really wants. The toys people buy because they have some attachment to property, not the quality of the toy itself. shit done for cheap. Most people would prefer a better quality version with better sculpting or articulation, but the company can't provide that. so they hinge on a gimmick like "cute" theming (funko pop) or retro(ReAction). Inevitably a good deal of these rot on shelves , many even ending up in closeout and discount stores where they seem out of place next to the other nicknacks. This isn't just adult collector toys, all the budget toy options for kids also tend to rot on shelves; stuff like Titan Heroes or 1-step Transformers.
For the sake of the thread, we know Pops are the quintessential modern toy slop so that's already a given.
