When they made the new mold for the stormtrooper based on that film, they added that detail to the blaster and then reused it again when they released the ANH based stormtrooper since it's based on the same mold, so it's technically inaccurate to that film. The funny thing is the Imperial Officer pack comes with ANH accurate blasters so they have an accurate one they could be using for these reissues of the ANH trooper but just aren't.
