Really rough progress here. I've temporarily abandoned the Odin I've been procrastinating on in favor of what I thought would be a much simpler project. Just giving Thor a fabric cape. I'm using some red jersey I'd bought for Odin.
Thanks to the anon here who mentioned the seam gluing trick. I did that on two edges, waited for it to dry, put it into the sewing machine and got some almost too-tight hems. It took me a few tries to get the fabric to grab, and I went sloppy on one side. Wiring would only make it halfway down because I was impatient and didn't wash all the glue out, plus the gems were too tight for me to squeeze it through. The fabric is still damp in these shots, and I had white thread on my bobbin, so I'm considering this a first draft.
But still--first time sewing, first time sewing a knit, first time working with seam gluing, first time trying to hide wires in fabric. It's ugly but I feel like it's a good start and I learned a lot.
