Here is the main problem with the set, Prime himself.
The general engineering design is good. It is streamlined MP10 transformation. The look of the figure is great but the overall articulation is just bizarre. I am not sure if my expectation is too high for legend class toy. I was hoping the toy would have full range of movement like Siege Prime- with less degree of bend considers how far they have come with first Soundwave mold and the joints they have shown on the toy. I was expecting a lot more than what I got, a lot of things just get in the way.
The arm can rotate freely, but as the shoulder chimney can’t be moved upward, the lower chimney will hit the lower arm when you try to rotate the arm outward when it is in a 90 degree bend. The knee does not lock in and it doesn’t help that the main knee joint is very very tight. You will pull the knee apart when you try to get bend the knee.
The hip is ball jointed, but the plastic for the crotch cover is MFT T H I C K resulting in the tip of the upper leg keep hitting the crotch piece, very annoying when you trying to get an only slightly outward /forward leg position.
I am not sure if that is just the limitation of legend size figure. I saw the DX9 Dutch review and it sort of suffers the same problems in different ways. Maybe if the figure is bigger the problems would go away as to be fair they do have a good design here. At the moment, I feel it just kind of miss the target in execution.
Though all in all, I think I will use this as my main cartoon accurate Prime. It certainly looks the part.
