Greg was okay with having Toa be military people, he even wrote the whole Toa-Dark Hunter war. Faber was against it.
We don't know much else about the script because Faber is unsure of how much he can reveal, there may have been many other things wrong with it. Faber felt the scriptwriter wanted to do his own version of the battle of Helm's Deep from LOTR without realizing how much that would cost. He also said he had to fight constantly with Lego to keep the lore's integrity because they only cared about promos and marketing, and also because the Bionicle team was kind of a renegade group within the company. On corporate meetings, Bionicle was often singled out as a "black sheep" that the rest of Lego didn't even want to hear about. Convincing Lego to reject this script was one occasion where Faber's vision won out.
