Most of the lines in OP use 3 mm or 4 mm joints. 5 mm is too large for their aesthetics. The one modular robot line that uses 5mm joints is that Tomica Drivehead line you see me sneaking into /tfg/.

Drive head was alright and lukewarm. They neither sell out within a week nor make it onto top 10 lists on amazon JP unlike the Shinkalion anime toys. Still it was good enough for TakaTomy to move forward with the Shinkalion anime (which was safer since it had external backing)
