>>9246941 because kids in the 70s grew up with pic related. The nostalgia of playing with the old castle probably pushed a lot of parents into buying the new one as they had very similar designs and play patterns.
I actually grew up with the original beast of a castle, it weighed a ton and could probably kill someone if you dropped it on their heads. Sadly it was a bit too small to really be used with Joes, but it was great for the smaller scale figures that were all over the late 80s/early 90s.
WIsh I still had it as it was a fantastic display piece at the very least, but it got lost in one of my many moves.
