I honestly don't know how they made the paint on the old ones so strong. From working in a model shop I know most paints do tend to crack when painted over something flexible like rubber or silicone, yet they got in right back in the 90s. Look at this, despite all the fucked up paint from rough play, the corners of the mouth are still not cracked. I wonder if it's some mix of paint that is deemed no longer safe to use, or just Matty cheaping out. Wouldn't be surprised if it were the latter.
