To be honest, I really haven't been into Lego for years. The most I did was buy a few Star Wars sets here and there, mostly from the clone war era. I suddenly decided I wanted a Lego steam locomotive, and upon seeing the new Hogwarts Express I purchased 2 and decided to make one.
Building this train has reminded me just how fun Lego is. While I enjoyed building official sets, simply playing with all the different possibilities these past few weeks was the most fun I have had in a long time. I tried 6 stud wide boilers, 8 stud wide trains, all different configurations of wheels. I know it is a cliched saying, but I felt like a kid again.
Now I'm waiting for my first bricklink order to arrive to finish it up.
