>>5941650>the fact that them trying to copy the old character into a new sculpt kinda ruins it since the sculpts are not the sameWhich, uh, is the purpose of re-shelling?
If the sculpts would be the same, why bother?
>like they ran out of juice and are now just trying to reshell character after character, but nothing is working. That's something that can happen.
I had a character who had four different heads and three different bodies, till I decided one day I am sick of it and just gave up.
However, I did do a few re-shellings that worked out really well.
If you've been in the hobby for a while it often happens that your taste changes.
Or you shelled your character into the best available doll at that time, years later a new one is released that fits so much better and it's time to go on.
I always compare it to drawing, years later you draw better and your characters look more like themselves.
That new doll is just the better drawn version of this character.
Also just checked, her stuff looks still the same to me, just more washed out (color/contrast-wise).
Regarding the original answer:
no, as far as I remember everyone I follow who decided to re-shell characters/upgrade their dolls' looks did so pretty well.
There are some shells I miss, usually because it was a doll I liked, but no "oh god, what did that person do!".
Only got mixed feelings towards illusionwaltz' Eddie, who was a Dollzone Cosmo first and is now a Crisnoel Cherry.
He looks more defined now, but it was nice to see a cool Cosmo for once and he had a very different vibe.
We got a person in our local forum though that makes me roll my eyes every time she gets a new doll.
She has basically one important character and has been in this hobby for a year now.
That character had seven different shells so far, and they are nothing alike.
He went from an EID dude to a slim Dollshe guy, to a Soom Dia, to a Crobidoll, to a SID (and two other versions I just forgot).
