Here's a tiny detail I found out when taking apart and cataloguing my Qman sets: What I thought was a variant of the 4459, or possibly 2780 Technic pin with friction ridges, turned out to be neither. It's still a Technic pin with friction ridges - but this one has a slit lengthwise, not a round opening. Also, the slit doesn't go all the way through, the innermost 6mm of the 16mm pin are basically solid.
It works just as well as the Lego equivalents, but is essentially slightly heavier and more sturdy. On the other hand, there's no place for the standard 3.2mm bar to go through inside. Also you can get it in colours other than black. Fascinating stuff.
I like the "screw head" look it has from the side.
