To my knowledge DA is made by stereolitographic (SLA) printing, which creates some smooth and solid as hell results, also with the right machine you can colour the part throughout each forming layer.
Then again, so can extruder printing but it requires a shit-load of tweaking settings and even then your model shape may be limiting.
