So my HoS Cliffjumper showed up a day earlier.
Turns out they didn't just recolor Hot Soldiers' original Centurion mold, give it a new head and weapon and call it a day, they retooled the shoulders so transforming it is slightly less annoying now, and they swapped out some screws for pins (that last one's not a good thing).
The plastic used in this release is better than the original Hot Soldiers release, but they reduced the amount of paint the original release had (despite the box showing said paint off) and the couplings tend to just fall off, which never happened on Centurion but it does mean I can give them their missing paint, maybe.
The Pickaxe also doesn't really store under the train mode as well as Centurion, and it has a peghole that I suspect is meant to serve a purpose but I can't find any.
So, Hot Soldiers was better constructed, but Mechanic Studios has better materials.
