>>11217804It's pretty interesting to compare the 2015 and 2016 Toa because it really highlights that there's two layers of design to this stuff - the initial concept and its actual expression in parts and building style. 2015 honestly knocks it out of the park when it comes to the former, every single Toa manages to have a distinct and recognizable visual identity (e.g. Knight Kopaka, Dwarf Onua, 'straya Pohatu) ... but the parts they were working with were mostly carried over from HF and they also didn't deviate much from standard CCBS builds, so it all ended up looking like, as you said, leftovers. Meanwhile 2016 lost a lot of the unique traits and moved towards a more "generic hero" look, but the focus on proper Bionicle-style parts like the Unity Piece and greater use of Technic in their construction still make them seem somewhat higher-quality in comparison.
