I think I solved the "pirate cutlass" problem. I was considering casting the Imaginext pirate cutlass (the red one) but I'm a noob at casting. So I ended up cutting up a MacBook plastic tray (very sturdy black ABS) to a cutlass shape, beefing it up with Squadron Green Putty. Then I cut the blade off a party cocktail sword, drilled a shallow hole in the hilt and glued in the new cutlass blade. Pic still shows pink hilts because I haven't completed painting yet.
BTW the October Toys Jade skeleton (already sold out) is a beautiful piece, but IT WON"T TAKE A PAINT WASH. Plastic is not semi-absorbent like the regular skellys and the wash just beaded up and looked like crap on a semi-transparent skelly. I had a helluva time removing the failed wash experiment.
