Though technically the forgetting effect was something that happened at in prehistorical times and the cast’s current day forgetting that Rung existed was because he can’t be remembered if he’s not around, and he died from shitting out too many matrixes while being anciently old.
(Raises real questions about how Kup, who due to shenanigans was a bit older than the age of the universe post-dark cybertron, didn’t also poof into a pile of dust from any significant strain or injury, since apparently that’s what happens to cybertronians when they get that old.)
