There are two crucial things that always stood out to me about the original: those stark GID eyes peering out of the dark face, and the sprayed-on paint apps making it look charred and blackened in a fire. The new one accomplishes neither of these things, sadly. I am most puzzled by why they used silver instead of the original black.
You can say this isn't meant to be a 1:1 homage, but the changes they've made, at least in my opinion, don't improve the new one in any way, and actually make it sorta worse looking.
