>>9236384Speaking of trains, I am very new to Lego trains and I just got an used 4565. The part that connects the regulator to the track is pic related. As you can see all the wire coating is rotted and falling off. When I connect this to the track I get no power. I thought this was shorting itself out by having the two wires touching each other I have run through a couple tests and think it might be more than that. I have connected a 9 volt battery to the train motor and it runs so the motor is not the issue. I have connected a light brick to the contacts on the regulator and it turns on so I know thats not my issue either. When I connect the 9V battery to the track I get no power.
1. Is it possible the tracks themselves go bad?
2. To repair the track contacts is it simply a matter of covering the exposed wire with heat shrink or should I actually take it all apart and replace the wires?
