That's not exactly how that went down. When it was called AmeComi they still fully intended to do other IPs eventually. But the name AmeComi was trademark or something and cause Deadpool's PO to be removed from international sales so they had to change name. I think he was originally listed as AmeComi Yamaguchi. Reissue of Deadpool now in the Amazing brand had no issue. I'm curious if Kaiyodo had to get rid of thousands of boxes printed AmeComi.

Definitely just a placeholder random image. However, in a country where Marvel Comics wasn't everywhere being sold at newsstands back then most adult collectors who would want these know Marvel characters mostly from the MvC arcade games. Being the ones in that game will affect the selection of releases. Nothing to do with ALL of them being that way, but who's consider popular can be because of those games.

The description for the line did say they were going to do non American characters in "Ame-Comi" style, so that was the original idea.
