While a bit of democracy and asking around for what people want can probably be a good way of getting more to join, around here there's also the risk of simply giving people more opportunity to get upset with each other, so a bit of enlightened despotism may be prudent if you want to get something going. And as I assume whoever brought it up may be a bit ahead of the rest in terms of vision and motivation here...
