I really don’t want to be unnecessarily critical of this figure because I really appreciate this 6” line and I’m very hopeful we got some fantastic figures out of it like Charizard and what Articuno appears to be, but I can’t sugar coat it. Greninja is an absolute stinking mess of a figure. A huge failure on many levels but most concerning, functional articulation and scale.
The thing can’t stand up on it’s own. The way the feet are tilted, there is no way it ever would stand without out the base. Even if you try to stand it with the feet flat on the ground looking unnatural, the ankles don’t have enough resistance inside the joint to provide enough strength, and the oversized noggin makes this guy extremely top heavy. You need to find the center of gravity and if you tilt the upper half of the figure to any side of that, there’s almost no hope for it to stand with those flimsy ankle joints and loose knees. The knee joints that allow it to bend are a bit tighter than the ankles, however they spin 360 degrees inside the thighs with no force at all. They’re a loose spinning mess. The tongue is also so large and heavy toward the end that the cut joints along it’s length that have no built in resistance are just loose. The tongue constantly hangs down no matter how it’s posed because the end is too heavy.
The shoulders and wrists are also eye sores. The shoulder joints are oddly designed and I wish it were a more natural teardrop shaped shoulder with the arms sculpted around that more naturally. Because the underside of the top end of the biceps are so thick, the arms can’t rest down at his sides at all. It looks ridiculous. The image shows how far the arms can come down to the sides. Then the wrist joints just allow the hands to spin which is useless. Other articulation is appreciated but with all the balance and sizing issues this figure has, there aren’t many cool poses you can get him into.
