IT's not a deserved trust, since it's up to the creators to actually build that trust, but KS is a KNOWN and POPULAR brand and that creates a brand that people can trust. There's other crowdfunding sites, but they're considered sketchy, because some of them take your money no matter the outcome or aren't well known.
This is why companies are still coming back to KS to launch their products, despite having their own storefronts and being fairly popular.
Nevermind KS allows outsiders to just find something cool when you browse around all the projects. How do you do that without KS? Doing it without KS, youre just pidgeonholing yourself to only your little section of fans. Only a few companies are able to actually go beyond just their niche, like Hasbro.
This is why 4H is so fucking stupid, because they thought they could just do their own shit with an relatively unknown IP and doing none of the work that a company like Hasbro can. Just because they're greedy as fuck and didn't want to pay KS fees.
