>>9860052Stinkor is kinda a variant because he has a species but he's a mutant - they're much smaller, whiter and smell better. I think we've seen females?
Webstor is also species in few continuities, but we haven't seen them. Then again, Webstor did laid eggs...
Clawful has species and I'm pretty sure if you look close, one of them is a chick.
Whiplash has people but we haven't seen chicks.
Classics established Saurod's species as female was member of Cosmic Enforcers.
And of course there are Snake Men and Stone People.
MOTU was always this weird mix of characters having origins and of letting freaks like Spikor just walk around without explaining what they are. Only Classics changed that (and I think in CGI most people have origins. Mosquitara is the least explained being) Species are often used a quick character background without giving them a superhero origin. Heck, we know who Snake Men are but we don't know why they have unique powers.
Overall, if you're going establish some freak as species, I'd say don't be a coward and show me the women. But should you establish them as species in the first place? IDK, with guys like Stratos and Buzz-Off it's hard to even imagine them as anything else by now.
To me it's kinda like in Overwatch where there are multiple characters wearing Reinhardt's armor, Pharah's flight suit or using
D.Va's mech but they're not playable characters. Races are useful for storytelling and world-building but I wouldn't really want them as THE characters.
