Here my thoughts of these four.
Grimlock-it’s surprisingly how well done if a bit light feeling seriously it feels really light when I pick it up, but otherwise really does nothing wrong. It was so easy to transform. I didn’t even need to look at the instructions because it’s just a slightly simplified version of the masterpiece which in itself is a slightly more complex version of the original toy.
Slug-this one seems to get the most hate but honestly, this one is pretty good. I see what you mean about the backpack, but it does tap in. You just have to push it. On my copy the pin on the right arm is slightly loose and the ratchet on one of the knees is slightly loose too, but otherwise I like it.
Snarl-this one feels very hefty. Transformation though is a pain and especially getting the head together in the final step. Also, I had to do the boil water and then ice water with the sword because it was bent, but now it’s straight.
Venin-so this was one of my favorites growing out despite not being a show character. The new one does some things that I like increased articulation, and the wings that were very fragile on the original are slightly more robust and it pretty much transforms like the original toy.. be very careful with the fists because the orange area around them. The plastic is very thin so when folding them and hold the side of the arm and push it otherwise there’s a risk of it popping out and may risk breaking that area.
