These are the comic turtles figures Playmates planned on putting out. They likely would have been similar to the figures released for the 2007 movie line in articulation and detail. These were also made when Playmates and NECA were on bad terms, Playmates had asked NECA to cease production on Ninja Turtles figures as they felt they had the inherent rights to produce comic versions of the turtles, and wanted to have some in market to give them higher legal standing in case they went to court and had to prove NECA was infringing on their brand. But when TMNT was purchased by Nickelodeon the property was put on hiatus for a year and reemerged with the 2012 series, and these figures were cancled during the moratorium.
