>>7830447Call it nostalgia or whatever the fuck, but since i got into Bionicle in the middle of 2007 as a kid and was first introduced to the original team by Mask of Light [toyler]split into multiple 10-minute parts on old youtube[/toyler], but I've always considered the Nuva to be the best Toa's best forms. the multipurpose tools making them feel more special somehow than the new Toa I had even then, and the silver bulky armor making them feel "ultimate" and "definitive," like you can have multiple Toa teams but this was THE Toa team.
I love the 2001 designs a lot and wouldn't consider them inferior to the Nuva at all, I would never imply that, but I don't think they're superior either. They're both different and I appreciate both regardless. As a kid even, the Toa Mata felt like "prototype" versions of the Toa Nuva, like as though their armor degraded after years inside the canisters and their barebones skeleton forms were all that was left of them, and I found that badass as hell (the Toa Metru having dual-purpose weapons like the Nuva only reinforced this perception that "the Toa Mata were incomplete"). Not to mention iconic of course. Again; both different appeals, but equally valid imo.
...I liked the 2008 Toa Nuva too, but wanted to buy "the versions from the movies" a lot all the same as a kid.
