If a franchise is in a glut of producing media and products long enough then the market can be saturated and popularity will wane, leading to many products never being worth much down the line. 20-30yr reboot cycles have a better chance at turning decades-old toys into valuable collector items if the franchise was beloved but MIA during the interregnum, but if every kid keeps their toys in great shape then the value will not rise much. Honestly collector figures like Neca, Figma, etc have greater volatility chances since they are usually more limited in their runs and are more niche than modern kids’ toys.
