So they will make the default, which is...a bland white dude. I think what that anon was getting at was if they had made the character more diverse/interesting by default, we could have gotten more interesting merch, and people playing the game would still be free to turn it into whatever they wanted (hell, they could even turn it into a bland white dude!)
