Literally nothing has changed in the new lore aside from things to sell new miniatures, because you cannot move the plot forwards. That would require Tau being extinguished, Necrons taking over the galaxy, nids taking over the galaxy, chaos taking over the galaxy, etc. This isn't a "oh wow Roboute came back and he's holding it alone with his favoured sons and now the Imperium is united!!!!" it's "ah fuck our core audience already owns 2 marine armies and they're not buying our ugly new army additions, we gotta find an excuse to wipe that army off the face of the lore and replace it quick".
