>>8365622I think it's more just a shift in artists. Those sci fi elements were basically still there, and had been since the seventies. But the art designs all just turned more realistic and mundane. The lasers of that time functioned exactly the same as guns always did before and after.
Like, take these dorks. This page and sequence could, and would, probably still exist in the late-90's onward, but they'd just be wearing regular NASA space suits in a normal shuttle.
