>>9505819>Smaller toys aren't immune to this or escalating costsOf course not, but how many more parents are going to look at the $23 Marvel Legends and then notice something that's half the price of the same character their precious Aiden loves?
They want to make their Aiden happy, but times are tough, so they'll buy the cheaper toy.
How many parents do this every single day? Last year people could afford it, despite Corona, because they were getting their stimulus checks and some were even getting much more money on unemployment vs their normal job.
This year? Stimulus has ended and they're back to their normal wage jobs, but Corona hasn't ended. Inflation has increased. Wholesale prices for almost everything has increased, which also affects retail prices, which means they're paying more for everything than they did last year and the year before that.
So guess how many parents are able to keep on buying their kids 6" figures?
We're already seeing how most other companies have always switched to smaller scale figures, even from popular series, so something is up.
>it's hard to know what the elasticities actually areLike i said, we'll know in about a year.
BTW, anyone actually know how these compare with the 1:18 figures? Like how much less articulation do they have? Because these are like 5" figures, come with adequate amount of accessories, yet only cost $9.99 vs the $13 Hasbro charges for their 1:18 figures. Manufacturing costs can't be much different, unless the articulation is really that shit.
