In the VF-1 days, armored packs are just pieces slapped into battroid mode, and they'd cast that shit off before switching to fighter/gerwalk. ever since the precedent he set with the VF-25 Armored pack, his designs seem to focus more around keeping the armored pack together in all modes, as opposed to a cleaner silhouette (at least for the protag valks).
In contrast, his most recent non-protag valk the Draken III has been one of the most unique since the VF-4 lightning, as made apparent by anons in this thread. the VF-171 is also a pretty clean design.
