Well this was a bust. Found a MIB Barbie playset from the 90s at a show for $4. Bought it, opened it up.... it's missing all the little food pieces and the side cardboard menu (yes the box says they're included in the contents). I looked it up and it seems like the set got reissued a few months after it was first released, perhaps due to those missing pieces.
And I forgot how the 90s sets were a pain in the ass to get together, the cardboard banner and counter back won't stay in their slots and look terrible. Even though they were more varied--Barbie post office, anyone?--I can't say I don't prefer everything coming pre-assembled.
