I had a ton of Lego shit as a kid in the 80s and 90s back when it was actually good, but got away from it near the end of the 90s when they started focusing on franchises more than their core themes that made Lego so great. I came out of my "dark ages" in the early 2010s but nothing really excited me the way these classic sets do, so in 2016 I bought one of my favorite childhood sets (pic related) and have been slowly collecting 80s & 90s vintage Lego since.
If I had waited until recently to do this, I would have definitely been priced out. The only big set that I missed out and am now priced out of is Dark Forest Fortress.
