I normally prime with gray, but I think I'm now sold on black priming. It seems especially useful for vehicles with lots of ETA, spaced armor, add on armor like Stillbrew or BDD, where there are lots of hard to reach crevices you can intentionally underspray with the base color for a shadow effect.
