Say you paint your figure with grey primer. Then do grey+white primer on top, then you can easily paint lighter flesh tone, or lighter color in general over grey primer.
This confused me. Do you mean to coat with grey, the do another coat with grey, and then a coat of white on top of that grey? Or do you mean mixing the grey and white?
I don't have an airbrush yet, everything I've been doing has been with cheap paint brushes and cheap hobby acrylics. What are the big benefits of airbrushing? Is it much better for lighter tones? Pic related is the first figure I've ever tried painting. It's the Gameverse Captain, black/grey color scheme, and I decided to try and give him the red/white/blue treatment. He was like $5 loose figure with the incorrect hands (maybe head too, it doesn't look the same as the Gameverse one) so it's a nice practice fig to start on. So far the white is a lot globbier than I'd like, I had to do so many layers, especially going back and forth to fix shaky hand mistakes between the white and blue. Also I did a shit job sanding the areas that rub but I am more focused on just painting right now. What's the secret to get a nice, sharp white that doesn't turn out globby? I treated the fig with a few white primer coats before painting, btw.
