So I have a Unit 08 Alpha Revoltech (the one with the same body style as the "normal" Evangelion units, the re-entry shield and the replacement arm for Unit 02) and the paint fucking sucks. Not so much the application, but rather the quality of the paint itself. Most of it is alright but the black and the pink are weirdly tacky and attract dirt really fucking easily. I tried repainting her by hand and that didn't work at all (no matter how much I thinned the paint it always came out lumpy and uneven) so I'm going to airbrush her instead.
My questions are:
1: Should I bother pre-shading it?
2: If yes, should I airbrush on the pre-shading or just carefully use a paintbrush/gundam marker?
3: Should I use black (which I know is normally used for scale models when pre-shading) or a darker version of the main colour? (In this case pink.) For the record I'm using grey primer.
4: I have 2 shades of pink available- Tamiya Pink and Citadel Emperor's Children. I prefer the colour on the Citadel paint, but which would be better for airbrushing:
5: (Last question I promise) my airbrush is a jar-feed, should I upgrade to a gravity-feed? My compressor is fine so that's not a problem.
