I'm excited for them, but I'd like to know if Barlowe will still be a part of it. If he is still around and introducing differences to the original designs, or making new characters, I'd immediately be even more invested.

That's pretty much all it is to me. The vintage toys are neat but it was before my time. I first paid attention to thus franchise when 4H were working on their big assortment that didn't go through (their fault or not is besides the point so no point in dwelling on it) and I was enamored by some of the designs. If Nacelle doesn't have Wayne Barlowe at least in some overseeing role that's a big mistake.
