>>10113637That's incorrect. Takara only has rights to the original DX toy molds. They were only given time-limited, exclusive merchandising licenses for the IPs they co-produced and sponsored. After these licenses expire, Sunrise would retain the rights to the Brave show and characters, the intangible stuff.
Sunrise was technically free to license the toy and game rights to anyone, but it turns out the Japanese companies had some sort of "Gentleman's Agreement" to not touch another's sponsored IP. This changed when SRW's producer tested that by including GGG and Jeeg (Toei show that was also takara sponsored). They received no backlash for it and it opened up the inclusion of IPs like Votoms(also takara sponsored), the Tomy-sponsored Eldoran series and even Gurren Lagann which was sponsored by Konami, and all this eventually bleed over to Bandai's toy department doing these properties.
You can check this yourself by simply browsing the copyright and licensing info on Brave merch boxes. Bandai and GSC's stuff would only list Sunrise as the licensor, meanwhile CMS' Gaogaigar toys would list both Sunrise and Takara because they were modifying from the DX toy's design.
What this means is that Bandai, GSC, etc. can make a Goryu but not a replica of the repainted Dai Atlas toy, without going through Takara.
