No, those suck too because they don't look like the city streets from 35 years ago and don't fit in seamlessly with them.

Look at the two sets below, one old, one new. They're roughly equivalent - a couple city streets with a car wash, shop and some other crap - but they don't look remotely similar. You could never use pieces from one in the other without it sticking out like a sore thumb. Even if the blocks still technically fit into each other, new Lego is just not compatible with old Lego. It's too different.

- Even the road plates are incompatible
The only compatible parts are some of the vintage accessories they threw in (broom, shovel, trashcan) and the basic blocks.

Finally, someone says what i've been thinking for a while. While I don't think either is bad, lego's style really changed about 2019-2020. Though there was similar but much less dramatic shift when angled and sloped peices became prevalent in the early 2000s, and the and the boom in small detail parts and slopes around 2012-2013. While it's not bad, I much more preferred the older style, even if it's just my early-zoomer nostalgia.

Toriyama did more variety of faces in Dr. Slump than most mangakas do in there entire career. The reason you see it so much in art he's hired to do is because those art directors specifically want Dragon Ball protagonist style designs.

I completely stopped buying lego when they switched to these aweful new road peices.

I've actually gotten rid of my lego city, and replaced it with the new matchbox city, because lately matchbox has been making really good retro playsets, and they're full of soul and nostalgia, and it looks great on a table with matchbox cars on it.

A friend of mine recently revealed she often just throws away her lego. Enjoys the build process but never knows what to do with the completed build. I remembered her telling me years back that she bought the Palace Cinema and asked if she threw that away. Miraculously she hadn't and said I could have it if I wanted to. I offered to buy it but she wouldn't accept.
So basically I just got a free Palace Cinema. She might have some other retired sets gathering dust somewhere too like the Monster Fighters train. Basically, just get better friends legobros.
