Geez anon, these are pretty amazing. I don't think I've ever seen a Lego mech combiner like that (aside from the Ultra Combo mech I guess. But that one had 4 vehicles and 1 mech). How long have you been designing mechs? I've recently gotten back into Lego after a 10 year hiatus. I still lurk /lg/ every now and then, but I don't post because I've never been inspired to buy anything TLG puts out. I'm really trying to go down the MOC route, but I feel like I have no creativity and my stuff comes out looking really bland and boring. Any advice?

Also, seconding an update on your 2 seater Monkie Kid mech. Are you done with it or have you added anything else? That's easily one of the best looking mechs I've seen anyone post here.

Great colours, loving the use of the Ironman shield thing and I'm impressed at the amount of poses you can do with the wings despite the joints being really hard to spot.
Took a crack at building a mech for the Yuppie, who is inexplicably my favourite minifigure. Haven't started the legs yet but I'm really happy with how it's turning out even if I'm struggling on colours a bit.
Any other sets that are good to source parts for these sorta builds outside of the Marvel Mechs? The Creator 3in1 owl seems like it's worth a go before I start doing the excel work required to put together a bricklink order

Honestly, just keep practicing and building. My earlier mechs are pretty meh, but as you build, you learn techniques to add to your repertoire. Also, I watch a lot of mech tutorials fron creators like Chubbybots, Mindbender, and Mishima. I check them out for inspiration and learning mech basics.

Thanks again anon. I'm done with it now. I just added a few new highlights and threw in some weapon storage. I thought about making 2 small swords for the mech to hold, since the smaller arms have a connection point for it...but I kinda can't be assed to do it, and I feel like it may end up looking too chaotic since it's already kinda on the cusp of looking aestheitically overboard. Pic related, it's the final product.

Off the top of my head, the Creator Space Mining mech has some great parts a d is on sale for like 10-15 bucks most places. Zanes Titan Mech has a ton of great parts and is only 50 or so dollars on Amazon.

In my experience, the stickers get lose after about 3-5 years, even when displayed behind glass, dust-free and far away from the sun & light.

Meanwhile, I have prints from the early ’90 which still look great. It’s disappointing change in quality for sure. But with the number of sets, that TLG releases, I’m not surprise. At least they still fully print the 4+ sets.

How many years, after a set going EOL, are the sticker sheets generally available to request? Might want to make my Speed Champions collection look as it was supposed to again.

Starting to fill the interior with all the little details. I still need to finish the seating area and finalize the floor and stud locations. I didn't have near enough 1xN tiles in one color for the floor so I did a patchwork of tans, dark red, and brown. I'm really happy with the cash register / keypad area because so many pieces are pulling double or triple duty in that little nugget of space. I also thought the integration of the broom clip into the cornerstones of the building was pretty sly.

I prefer the earlier Tipper design. The classic color pallet and the rudimentary design fill me with Member Berries (nostalgia). I may be a bit bias since I just completed two 435/612 Tippers via a Bricklink order and my vintage parts.

Anyone ever heard of Buzz Retail before? I ordered the 4-in-1 Gurren Lagann Ninjago mech from them and one has just turned up, fulfilled by a totally different company (GAME/Sports Direct), for £20 more than I paid for it, my address and someone else's email on it.

If I remember correctly, I saw some anon talking about some wacky dropshipping, stolen credit card ebay scam or some shit. Is that what's happened? Did someone just get scammed on my behalf? Should I build the set immediately so Sports Direct don't try and take my bricks back?

I paid via PayPal, so if I wait a couple of weeks, I can issue a paypal chargeback against the scam company right? What are they gonna do, provide the tracking info for a different store?

I'm confused lads, I just wanted to buy some Lego, now I'm pretty sure I'm unintentionally involved in a multilayered credit card fraud scam. Gotta go for glory and scam the scammers right?

Here is an early wip shot of some sets I'm collecting for an aquazone diorama. My plan, in part, is to upgrade these subs with more detailed weapon mounts, torpedo and harpoon launchers or maybe flechette guns if I can sort out a convincing way to build them. Waiting on delivery of more bricks but I'll continue to post updates as things progress.

Disney didn't own SW back then but they did lose a bunch of money paying for Disney license for other stuff.
SW was 20% fee but SW didn't really save Lego and it wasn't Bonkles either.
They went 300m into the red in 2003 while they were selling both SW and Bonkles. They saved the company by selling off Legolands, restructuring the company and actually paying attention to how profitable sets were. There were some they were selling that cost more to make then sell.

Both suck because you can't fit a minifig inside the cabin.

I've always bought the smaller LEGO sets (for the price really) but I recently bought a 18+ set and spend the whole afternoon building it with a friend and to this day it still is one my best memories. After that I make sure to have some extra budget to buy at least one set a month.

This was the last ever LEGO set I got, it was on christmas. It was a very distinct timeline, Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds was new and it was the transition from being a child to being a teenager and stopping playing with childrens toys. Might've been 2010 or 2011.

Brown 1x2 tiles stashed into a compartment of the water plane is oddly specific. Also in the set there's multiple suitcases of cash and stacks of money.
I read somewhere that for some time this set was one of the few if not the only set that had a gun in it where the setting wasn't implied to be soldiers/pirates/desperados, but just civilians of questionable morality.

So I did go to the free brick build event. I ended up overhearing the floor manager telling their employees the situation, at least at their store. In the back near the pick a brick wall is a table with 5 of the same instructions taped to it. They hand out the peices in a pick a brick cup so you can't just leave with it. I asked for one and they handed it to me and then left me alone to build it. There were people walking around the store but no kids and no one else knew about it. So now I have a little rocket that I will make use of in my MOC somehow

Still very much period accurate parts. See pic related, old vs new.
Stuff like this drove me crazy when I found out all the variations of seeminhly similar parts lego had done through years. I collect old sets almost exclusively and also I'm very autistic about having the correct parts. There's so many ways you could fuck up a classic set despite having the "right" pieces

Wow I had no idea they changed the molds for those old familiar parts. That's crazy. Well, my hat's off to you anon, I'm probably a few more points shy of 100% classic than I thought, but I did my best to keep it in the ballpark. Honestly I doubt my diorama project will be completely classic anyway because I do like some of the modern marine animal models. I'm sticking to 90's as closely as possible for figs and ships though.

I saw a galaxy explorer at walmart today for 75. The box was a bit squashed but I bought it thinking of reselling it in the future. On the road home I got second thoughts about the box and if I'd make even 2:1 of what I paid for it within a year or two. I ended up turning around and returning it. That last one matters; Lego used the hollow version for minifig dresses because it doesn't have very much clutch power on the bottom, while the one on the right is better suited for architecture where it needs to have a firm grip on the studs underneath it.

Ah, I was going to say that there is a big difference between parts where they actually changed the mold and replaced the part with a different version, and parts that are just similar to each other. But I just looked it up and was surprised to see that part #4495a
Flag 4x1 Wave Left hasn't been in production since 2010. I just assumed they always had two versions going. As a collector of soul sets and a hater of modern Lego this phenomenon is annoying as fuck, but also fascinating to me. Thanks for posting all these examples.

Having completed my gunships and still having a lot of spare parts to play with, I asked myself what else my pirate band is missing now that they have serious firepower. The answer? Logistics. Something has to haul rations, ammo, and help carry loot. I call this ugly bitch the Catfish, and she does all that and more. Boasting extended arms to aid in handling cargo, an expanded communications array with ECM capability and a rocket bay for defence.

These are getting more obvious since I already posted some of the trickier ones.
Then there are some part variations which are so small and so minor even I don't generally consider them. Stuff like reinforced undersides of modified plates with wheel holder pins etc.
It doesn't help that Lego has used certain minor part variations interchangeably even within same sets - as in within the same sealed product. This has been documented.

Don't bother anon. Underwater themes are inherently very unlikable due to the extreme amount of energy and motivation it takes to pretend these ships and playsets are underwater when they obviously are not. Its easy to pretend your spaceships are in the blank emptiness of space whike you're swooshing them around, but not as easy to pretend to be underwater. You can imagine these ships being under the sea for a little while but you never manage to fully realize the details. You can't feel the weight or the pressure. Where does the ocean end? How far from the surface are the ships? This is not a problem for space and other themes. And if you do have the balls to go all in and actually submerge the ships in real water, all disbelief cannot and will not be suspended once you watch your ships quickly filling up with real water. You imagine the minifigures screaming as they realize they are going to be drowned alive in a watery coffin that you made (not airtight) for them.

Nautical themes have always been the driving factor in my interest in Lego. Speaking only for myself, my imagination is I can find pleasure in creating underwater scenes with Lego using lighting. If the end result fails to meet anyone's expectations, I'll just look at that as a result of my own artistic limitations. Always liked your posts but i also always thought your subs need a little "unification", theres just to much diffrences on the details and overall look of the subs, only thing that ties them are colorscheme. I understand that you builded each of them as separate creation but they could use some redesign to fit the overall theme. Im not saying you should build 2 of the same models, but if they had the same details here and there (whole cockpit; mount for/smaller 1person sub, pressure chambers ect) they would looked even better. A 10 x 10 grid of pixels has 256^100 = 6.668e240 possible images in the RGB colour scheme. AI doesn't have to calculate every possible configuration of components to create something. I guess it would follow the same process humans do, dream up the shape of an object and then figure out how to build it out of bricks. It would take inspiration from a database of MOCs on how to use pieces creatively to represent certain things.

Basically, if I exchange 4 sets I've got in a cupboard (Dodge Speed Champions dual pack, the 3-in-1 castle and the noodle shop and that Buzz Lightyear) I can get the 90 Years Castle for about 100. When taking the discount I got all those sets on, it works out as a net discount on the castle of 15%.

I think this works, I don't think I've missed anything but I could just be having a manic episode.

I didn't even consider the fabric cape pieces. That's genius. I like the way you've leaned into the gold and pink more; I'm trying out LBG for everything and gold hands.
