Will you buy the MOTU Origins Anniversary 4 pack?
Anonymous
>>10040576 I got the She-Ra Masterverse figure, along with the Triclops and Mo'squitra figures from the CGI show.
She-Ras figure is wonderful, love it. Only problem is the hair gets in the way of articulation for the head, and the non-masked head still looks a bit odd in terms of her mouth. Otherwise fun figure
CGI Triclops is cool. Mo-squitra looks cool, but her gimmick and defualt pose is weird (leaning forward), also not much articulation and her feet are kind of warped. Kind of let down by Mo'squitra, hope she gets a better figure down the line.
>Will you buy the MOTU Origins Anniversary 4 pack? Nah, at least not for that $150 price they are asking. I hope they re-release some of them later as single releases though.

>>10040606 Don't forget her suit looking like crap when you turn the chest joint. No designer worth a damn should let articulation break up details like that. You may as well glue the joint is turning it looks awful.

I seriously doubt Two-Bad wiil be Deluxe. Those need gimmicks not just fancy design, even cheap ones. He might be exclusive.
Anonymous
>>10040609 Yeah thats unfortunate. I think they did s good job otherwise. I feel spoiled to get alternate heads and hands for a figure in this toy climate. They also deisgned her with wide hips so she can ride on top of Swift Wind if they make it. Always stinks when designers don't plan ahead, but it looks like they did this time.
Anonymous
>>10040666 I mean, King Hiss is gonna be deluxe and his "feature" is removable armor and extra swappable parts.
And Mantenna had a special feature and wasn't a deluxe. So your reasoning isn't 100% sound.
Anonymous
>>10040723 His feature is that he can go from human to snake. I know it's not extra costly gimmick but as play factor it is. It's something you can actually advertise on box. Even Grizzlor is more deluxe than Two-Bad.
I didn't say that all gimmicks are deluxe, just that all deluxe are gimmicks. Tri-Klops doesn't need to be Deluxe.
Anonymous
>>10040723 I thought Origins King Hiss had a swappable torso and arms, they're still doing the armour?
Anonymous
>>10040743 >feature is that he can go from human to snake That "gimmick" is realized as a removable armor piece. Unless you're gonna argue that Fisto's "gimmick" is going from shirted to shirtless, that's a silly argument to make. Any feature he has is a standard-across-the-line feature. EVERYONE has removable armor and swappable pieces, so your arguement doesn't hold water. King Hiss has no real gimmick, just interesting alternate pieces.
And if what he does counts because "you can advertise it", why can't you just include two alternate heads with Two Bad that has them shouting and market it as "they really argue with each other!" on the box. It's about as much as Hiss does.
I'm not arguing that Two Bad SHOULD be a deluxe, but in this new Snake era he very well COULD be, functioning action features do not a deluxe make if they can justify it with adding a bunch of pack-ins, which Two Bad could get in the form of alt heads, alt hands (since og toy had two Fists to punch each other and you could give each side a gripping hand) and his 200x weapons.

>>10040747 Swappable arms, but the torso is armor
Anonymous
>>10040749 Let me put this that way.
What was vintage King Hiss gimmick? Turn into snakes. Does the gimmick still works? Yes. It might have been changed but it wasn't removed like Kobra Khan's spit effect. But Two-Bad has as much gimmick as Fisto or He-Man. You have to pose him yourself.
Also, Hiss acceesories are too big for singlecarded release. This will be probably only justifiying factor why Hurricane Hordak will be Deluxe.
In the end, I don't know but this is why I don't expect him to be Deluxe.

Anonymous
>>10040788 In the end, the only consistency in Origins is that there is no consistency.
Waves went from 4 vintages to 2 to 3 to 1 to 2 again.
Khan and others lost their gimmicks while Roboto kept his at cost of modularity.
Grizzlor and Space Sumo are exclusive.
Snout Spout came without extra hand.
Hiss is a cheap Deluxe toy and doesn't really come with any actual extras.
Not-vintages in waves were all repaints until 200X and 200X Snake Armor.
Molds were almost identical then Mantenna got 4 legs.
There were no cartoon characters until Kol-Darr and no Revelation until Grayskull.
Thunder Punch He-Man apparently won't be sold alongside Dragon Blaster Skeletor.
CGI He-Man showed up and is made out of almost no reusable parts.
It's hard to find anything that is certain. Maybe we'll get 200X toy as Deluxe. Maybe we'll get 2 toys that are identical in 2 different releases. Maybe Dragon Blaster won't be Deluxe. Maybe they release MAA as next Deluxe but with new accesories

Probably paired with either Sssqueeze or Palace Guard Infiltrador (depending on what it ends up being)
>Maybe Dragon Blaster won't be Deluxe. I've been wondering this myself. He won't have a He-Man to pair with him (Thunderpunch going with Hiss), and the feature worked exactly like Kobra Khan's, who lost his.
I see him ad wide open as to how they release him. Could be basic, like Khan. Could be non-functioning deluxe, like Hiss, but then who would be appropriate to pair him with? Hurricane Hordak? Could retain the feature. And if he DOESNT, shit, he could be the pack-in with Snake Mountain (ala what MCX is doing) or with Screeech (vintage Screeech came with Skeletor).
He's a massive question mark that has me interested what they'll do
Anonymous
>>10040896 My leading theory is he will work. It's a dragon, it wont modularity. Might as well make Stridor and Battle Cat with swappable heads. Also action feature variant of a figure without action feature is dumb.

Did people get this hung up over Powercon Horde costing like $220? I honestly don't recall, and I find it interesting that people are complaining as much over 4 basic figures in a fancy box costing $150 this year when 4 basic figures in a fancy box that cost even more was ok last year

So here's what I'm curious about, perhaps a little autisticly. I've seen on that those TV guide boxes have number of episodes on them. But Filmation and CGI were turned around so I couldn't read them. Does CGI box says "26 episodes" and would that confirm that the show's over?

>>10041300 Yes, and everyone can use Clamp Champ's pincer, so?
Sure, you can put King Hiss' snake limbs on other toys. You can even take King Hiss' torso for more convincing effect. Doesn't change that you need King Hiss toy, which comes with King Hiss parts to pull off King Hiss gimmick.
Meanwhile Fisto couldn't be Deluxe because he's no longer spring-loaded so you can literally take any action figure (that isn't Battle Cat or something) and perform power punch just as well as with Fisto. By mimicking motion yourself. Same with Two-Bad.
Two-Bad is a bit more Deluxy than Whiplash and Buzz-Off and a little less than Grizzlor or Mantenna, and that's even if Mantenna didnt had working eyes but still had 4 legs. It's as if Leech got Deluxe even without suckers.

>>10042409 I'm the guy that suggested that, and I really don't think that would apply to vintage line characters, those being the heart of MotU.
That's more something I think would happen to variants or OCs from the various branches of the franchise. Like Shadow Weaver or Filmation Catra being Masterverse exclusive, while Kol Darr would be Origins exclusive. Or my initial wondering if all NA (outside that exclusive pack He-Man) sticking to Masterverse
Applying that to Two Bad and Moss Man is just crazy

I've seen a few posts in other online discussions of people who missed because either they were mislead by a social media post that said "no international shipping" so they didn't even try, or they had to travel or work in a remote location that prevented them from getting online access that weekend, as well as some folk thst just don't keep constant tab on things, only checking online discussions once every couple of weeks so missed the memo and then missed the ordering window.

The 200x Serpent Claw Man-at-Arms doesn't have an appreciable size difference from an Origins figure in terms of scale and it had a functioning launcher.
And Clamp Champ proves they can make hand held weapons that function for Origins.
Given that variant had a bunch of new, oversized weapons, he's going to be deluxe regardless, I think, to fit it all on the card. It's just a question of functioning or nonfunctioning deluxe.
There's no good reason why he shouldn't work (not that that will ensure Mattel does it)

That's probably the main strength of this pack (assuming it ends up clogging Target shelves and warehouses like Rise of Evil), it gives you an easy way to get ahold of the lead hero and villain of Rulers of the Sun if you don't have either of them already.

So, the Origins Grizzlor release only has the one open hand and one accessory-holding hand, instead of paired open hands, right? Of all times to keep an accessory that could add to production costs.

I'm not into World's Smallest as a gimmick, particularly when they miss obvious opportunities (vehicle-mode transformers in tiny boxes, not cards). Still, there is a novelty of tiny carded action figures, and MOTU looks great in this format.

How would anons feel if MOTU condensed its figures and focused more on gimmicks? Ex: giving Mosquitor's blood gimmick to Hordak and lending him more to a vampire, while Mosquitor is excluded from getting a toy entirely. Another example would be giving Whiplash's whipping tail to Kobra Khan and the other snakes, or giving Rotar's gimmick to Cy-Klone. The end goal being less crap figures, and more enticing figures.

I honestly entertained alternative - to make Thunder Punch, Hurricane and other gimmicks and make them separate characters. Honestly, in most toylines I prefer to get each character once and move on and not to get 15 of the same character. Usually if people like gimmick, they like they dude, too, right? Were people happy that there were other dudes with pincers in 200X instead of Clamp Champ? Or that there Snake Crush Skeletor instead of Sssqueeze?
