Jujutsu Kaisen, current big new shonen jump series that multiple companies have made toys of. More of the same shonen formula stuff really. But weaker character designs.

Isn't that the line that is composed of insanely cheap looking figures? They're very inexpensive, but even so, I don't really understand who the audience is for these figures when a lot of the time, better looking figures of those characters already exist.

Ideally, this would be a chance for less popular anime characters to get figures of them made, but we know that'll never happen. Gotta keep making the same two dozen characters that will sell well. But ideally, they'd make Skip Beat figures, Neo Ranga figures, Gunsmith Cats figures, M.D. Geist figures, Ouran High School Host Club figures, Vampire Knight ones, etc. Figures for semi-popular series have haven't had much figures made of them. But yeah, that'll never happen. So my interest in this line is pretty much nonexistent.

Kids, anon. The obvious answer is kids. And for the older frachises like saint seiya, the target is older people who aren't into high end toys and just want something cheap for nostalgia purposes afterthey see them at the store.

They should try more with stuff other than Jump or Bandai owned title like Digimon, the random anime that happened to be popular in the west. Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed, Akira, stuff like that. Things that are not actually that big in Japan as people want to think.

I'm kinda surprised they decided to do these. In the past they've said characters wearing the same outfits wasn't very toyetic low key confirming they weren't going to do Attack on Titan. I guess being the current "in" thing trumps weaker character designs.

Idk about most people but if it's between any new Digimon that'd need a new mold or a human character, I'm going with any Digimon. A few exceptions maybe, like V-Tamers Taichi. And you can't really blame them, imagine launching a brand new sub-line without some of the most popular Digimon. Maybe if these do well we could get at least some slightly more unusual but still popular Digimon, like Angemon, Leomon, Pie(d)mon, Devimon, Ogremon, etc. And if it does amazingly, we could get anything.

I would definitely think what's currently popular would trump unusual designs. Plus if they can reuse some parts that's more of a win for them.

That said, I do wish they tried to push the formula they're working with a bit. It's kind of sad that their budget 5" line has a nicer and more functional articulation scheme than their collector 6.5" line. It feels like they either don't know how to improve (for which they have many examples, including their own smaller products) or they don't want to change the formula (which seems more likely).

If I recall, there was a leak revealing Chainsaw man is gonna be part of this line. I think they also planned on doing video games like Tales of Vespara and Tekken. Somone feel free to post the design docs I don't have them ready.

Not really. There are the Dasin Model Bleach figures which are solid. Probably as good as it gets at the moment. With the new season coming maybe we'll get something for that. There's also Boss Fight that was supposedly doing some but haven't heard of it in some time.

I don't think anyone was banking on them fitting in, seeing as how AH are already smaller, plus Franky is being sold at regular price. Also if Brook is really only that height at the top of his afro, he's going to be absolutely tiny relatively.

I was tempted to get some of the One Piece figures, but they all just seemed to be missing almost basic articulation or accessories. Their Zoro figure can't even do the three sword thing, so what's the point? It didn't help the swords all looked like gummy crap as well.

The Jujustu figures look nice though, but for $20 more each I could just get the Figuarts which are much nicer still.

As for other series I'd like to see, the most obvious answer is Bleach. It's the last of the Big Three, has probably some of the coolest character designs of said Big Three and has literally no official articulated figures outside of that one company that makes 7" tall soft goods figures. With the series making one last massive resurgence, now would be a good time to finally put out some figures.

Also, similarly, I'd love figures from Burn the Witch. Though Figma/Figuarts would probably be a better option for them.

This is the Kakashi that was shown off alongside Franky and the JJK cast. Check the Anime Heroes Amazon listing for confirmation. Might buy it for Zabuza's sword though could also be subtle confirmation they'll reuse it for a 6 inch scale Zabuza.

I mean obviously you shouldn't go rocking the boat too much when it comes to stabilizing all that weight on a pair of two little feet but the legs do have the heaviest use of diecast in the overall figure. Pretty sure I remember him having ratcheted hips but it's been a while since I messed with him. I'll have to check later once I'm free and able.

Anyway, who's next? Madara? Obito? Pain? Orochinary? Fucking nope! Another stupid goddamn Naruto variant. They're actually treating One Piece better than Naruto in terms of character selection.

Kinnikuman is unbelievably unlikely unless it gets a reboot anime probably but if they do they better bring back that old articulation scheme. Those old figures blow these away in the articulation department. Just modernize the aesthetic a bit and it'd be great. Just.. update this AH formula a bit... I'd actually say it works better on the Digimon because they don't have direct human proportions. Regular people don't look right, especially with the stiff torso.

Out of all the leaks these are what I want the most. I've wanted 1/12 Tekken figures for a while and this fits the bill perfectly. Why the hell hasn't SH Figuarts do any? They'll license Street Fighter (RIP RIP figuarts SF BTW) but not use the game series they already own?

I always figured despite the division Bandai Japan has some hand in designing certain lines. They got to release some of the Legacy collection Power rangers molds in Japan, and the Legacy Titanus was reworked as a chogokin release.

But Bandai at least in Japan get certain priorities through sponsoring anime series of certain mangas I believe. Outside Japan probably have different rules though. I recently messed with one of my Dragon Stars and ya, the neck seems to be an unusually tight ball in the neck, meaning all you get is side to side movement. It's really bad design and really not hard to adjust so you get a lot more range. The ankle and wrists are quite functional, if a bit ugly, so I don't mind those too much. They definitely need to go back to the drawing board for some of the choices they make. These figures, in this day and age, should be a lot better than they are.

Now hold on, how would this be redundant? Any of the angels, Angemon, Magna, Seraphimon, Angewomon, or Ophani would hardly be redundant. The closest thing would be the Perfect/Ultimate forms from the Digivolving Spirits line, but they haven't gotten regular figures in a long time, some have never.

Also we're 1 wave and 1 leaked listing in, a bit early to make any of those assumptions. The next 3 may well be Alphamon, Dukemon, and Imperialdramon, but these are the Digimon A-listers and have the best chance of selling. What would the next 3 look like? If we get to that point there aren't really any more redundancies. You could say ChaosDukemon, or Paladin Mode, or Blast Mode, or Crimson Mode, but the latter 3 at least have some new parts and are also much more unusual than the first ones.

If I may throw my own hat into the ring as someone who does own quite a few AH figures, I wouldn't exactly write off the line just yet either but I understand the pessimistic attitude as well.

I think what is best to keep in mind is to understand how the line may proceed going forward by looking at what other figures Bandai has done in the AH line as well as stuff like Dragon Stars as its predecessor. What Digimon luckily has going for it is opportunity for easy mould reuse which frees up budget to create unique moulds sold alongside. Of the two currently released AH Digimon figures, you can easily get a BlackWarGreymon and a Beelzemon Blast Mode, thereby freeing up the budget for more unique Mon figures. We probably will eventually get the usual folks like Imperialdramon and Gallantmon but there is just as likely chances for other fan favourites like Leomon, Devimon, Etemon and Myotismon. Heck, look at the One Piece line which has unique moulds for every single figure so far as well as unexpected inclusions (Shanks).

My best advice is keep your expectations relatively in check. If it flops? Oh well, nothing to get too annoyed over. If it becomes a success? Be pleasantly surprised and reap the rewards.

This makes good sense, but if you've seen that anon's original post in the Digimon thread it was basically "I hope the line flops so I don't have to hope for anything I want". So...

I think ultimately sales will be what determines what we get, and if we get more. I think it's safe to say that the slow releases of the line is definitely a factor that hurts the sub-lines. Why would anyone want to commit when they'll maybe get another figure in the sub-line they're collecting half a year or more later. Pretty much because they're desperate for product of those brands, which shouldn't be what people are sticking around for. Dragon Stars at least has the benefit of having the line dedicated to it, and, at least originally, waves of releases that at least gave people a foundational collection. With the rest, it's 3 figures, then maybe 1 a few months down the line. Then maybe another, etc.

I get what you mean about the release scheduling too. Why Bandai USA can't get more product out in a more timely fashion is just baffling considering a smaller company like McFarlane can't seem to stop showing off new product seemingly every other week or so + get stuff out on shelves better than Hasbro at times. Especially egregious since the AH Naruto line has nothing actually new to show and instead is just releasing more Naruto and Sasuke variants (now another Kakashi too).

Taking a closer look, the JJK figures don't look to share any parts other than the closed fists, so that makes 4 entirely new moulds + 1 reuse (Kakashi). Franky must have eaten up the entire budget of an extra figure if we're not getting six in a wave like previous releases.

To be fair what did get leaked probably isn't even everything that they are working on. The JJK characters for example being the biggest indicator.

Realistically it probably is Bleach but really almost any anime could fall under the "long time beloved" label. JoJo and HnK being the most notable that came to mind but they could make a surprise with something like Berserk or Evangelion too. I think one of the marketers also mentioned they were personally a big fan of Macross so that could be fun to see, especially since it seems Harmony Gold is finally taking the stick out of their ass and letting the franchise get proper distribution.

That's still just the males, and before Jinbei, who I'd question having a release because, even if shortened, she's a lot bigger than Franky if they were both the same height, there's still Robin and Nami. Robin was in a poll once, and Nami is technically the leading lady, so hopefully they do find a way out. The scaling is already all over the place with Shanks not being nearly tall enough (but his height is often forgettable), and now Franky and Brook being too short. I'd like to see at least 2 reveals for everything, though that's probably too hopeful. Most of the AH reveals might get sucked up by the likely 3 first figures of that new brand to be expected in Q1 I think it was.

Honestly I say get both if you can, especially the former even if you own the Figure-Rise because for the price it's a pretty great deal. Beelzemon I wish came with his Blast Mode additions but they're likely saving that for a deluxe re-release later on. Didn't buy Omnimon because I already own the original OWG SHF I got for super cheap.

Overall I'm actually impressed. These definitely feel like some of the better releases in the overall line and make me excited to see what else they have planned.

I honestly wouldn't really worry about missing out on Omega. The more pliable plastic on western figures means the sword is likely to warp either out of package or over time as seen in pic rep next to the D-Arts and SHF. BWG is a definite buy if they end up making him.

As a side note on everything, it's really surprising just how little reuse there is. Bandai must be making at least some good bank on this line specifically for them to do so without risking too much loss.

Sounds like you literally are me, then. I want Stahn too, as Tales of Destiny was the first game in the series I played, and the PS2 remake is still my favorite Tales game.

However, sadly, I really doubt they'll make Stahn, or any characters from any of the old game. My guess is at best, they'll do figures from some of the casual entries like Symphonia, Abyss, Vesperia, and some of the newer entries that are fresh in people's minds like Arise, Berseria, and maybe some Xillia stuff. Not that I wouldn't want figures from those games, because I really do, I just don't think they'll do the older games, sadly.

So many sub-lines. While I appreciate the variety, I Do hope they get the attention they deserve. It'd be unfortunate to get figures of all these cool licenses and we end up with a couple figures, then maybe another some months later, then maybe another a year from now, etc. Their strategy may well be hit the main characters then move on to the next, but I'd like to hope for some depths to the lines.

I guess it really depends on how you define "depths" in regards to this line. Naruto, Saint Seiya and One Piece have all done a pretty decent job of having a multitude of different available characters while others like MHA have stalled out. I think as long as any of the sub-lines get more than the initial starting three that they all seem to be given is some good indication of success on their part.

Speaking of the Bleach reveals, I really hope the third isn't Rukia or any of the humans. Hopefully they throw us a wild card and maybe either give us something like Aizen or Kenpachi. He'll I'd even take a Grimmjow.

Rukia is an obvious choice and a decent one at that. I think having the starting lineup have a female character would be a good thing, desu. And if they're starting right at the top of the series it'd make sense. Would be good if they cared about the scaling, for example Chad that's a fair bit taller than Ichigo, same for Zaraki. Not like the heights vary too wildly after all.

And I guess that's true, and it isn't like the line is that old, but the releases are so slow. And with more and more sub-lines you'd think that overall releases would slow down and only those doing well would continue in earnest. Seiya is a really weird one, they had a strange starting lineup and didn't make certain popular choices, like Leo, and the Bronze Knights aside from 2 of them.

It's definitely a very weird line that I can't really think of any past toylines having done similar other than maybe tangentially Heroes of The Storm. Having multiple licenses I think can be more of a win than a lose for this line as specific sales for certain figures/characters all help to prop the line up and keep it running well enough for retailers to order more. The only weird thing is they don't capitalize on certain shows when they're still profitable. Demon Slayer, AoT, JoJo and whatever else is going good just to name a few.

Someone once claimed that they said something about AOT being too monotone in design, but now we have Jujutsu, so who knows. Demon Slayer is now being done by McFarlane, but who knows if differing scales would allow both lines to coexist. They're probably going to stick with classics and fotm (and potentially eventually classics) anime. I think there are two things holding this line back from achieving greater popularity, the few number of releases (especially because this is basically like 6 or however many lines in 1, some people may only be interested in 1 of those 6, and their interests will wane if they're only getting something potentially new 2 times a year. And the other is the quality of the figures and sculpts. They already have all the joints, so improving the sculpts and range of existing articulation isn't going to increase costs (unless their current sculptor is bottom of the barrel and cheap).

Or maybe if it's good enough, we could get something like Anime Heroes Legends, where they feature only the protagonist as a figure, and maybe if popular enough they introduce a second from the series, then a third, etc. And if not, oh well, the one figure came out. But again, I don't think the line is there at this time for risks to be taken. Then of course there are the potential licensing fees. Idk if just because they're Bandai they have some inherent pull with licenses (like Tales, being a Bamco game).

I think they are piratical choices for Saint Seiya. I mean they are a small fraction of the cost of Myth Cloth and I actually feel compelled to play around with them and pose them, unlike my Myth Cloth which are more like customizable display pieces (specially the Gold Saints).

Found that old interview from a while back, 10:50 mark the person asks about MHA. That's probably the most they'll say about it.

There's some stuff here people might be interested in. 20:45 he talks about what can come in the future and the picking process but the interview is pretty old and we've probably seen the stuff he's talking about in this particular vid.

I don't have any of the One Piece ones because I don't think they look good enough (Shanks losing so many details, Zoro can't use his 3 swords, etc), but I did recently grab a Piccolo that I soon returned. It was an impulse buy but the ankle joint had a crack in it so I returned it, but even beyond that I didn't enjoy how it felt. The head could barely move, the articulation felt quite limited. But ya, if you just want a Luffy and Ace grab one or both and see how you like them.

Yes, the implication was that I got a figure like an Anime Heroes, of which derives its articulation scheme and aesthetic from Dragon Stars. Basically if you own a later DS the experience should be more or less the same as an AH. Baggy clothes could make some difference though, but things like lack of head articulation will probably carry over.

The figures aren't meant to be equals in terms of what they all come with, they come with what makes sense. Zoro got 3 swords and 3 sheaths so if Luffy was a sword user he would've got them too. They gave him his hat and some different pose hands.

Franky could've worked as a build a figure (build-a-Franky) and it could've been made bigger. Chopper was so tiny you could've packed the body with him and have some bigger limbs packed on the side of some of the other figures. Like a future Nami, Brook and Robin could each have a limb since they're more slender characters.

Possibly, but this line doesn't do anything like that. Not since the early Dragon Stars waves did they feature BAFs, and nothing like it since. They possibly could have introduced it again, but clearly they chose not to and just opted for what we're getting here, a single packed Franky. At this point with how figures in the line releases, it'd be over a year before we could build anything though. If they could, I'm sure they'd introduce a bigger SKU for the various larger characters in these various properties, or even characters with lots of accessories, but I'd assume just because of how the line is set up honestly, it just isn't doing well enough to warrant more, for now.

But look at Dragon Stars, they have some 2-packs now, and some deluxe packs. Maybe there will come a time when that kind of treatment will come to Anime Heroes. In fact, at NYCC they had a Naruto vs Sasuke 2-pack, so that's one new SKU added to the line.

Yes, this exactly. Obviously everyone would prefer him to be properly scaled, and much larger, but there is no current SKU to do that with. This is a budget line, and all the figures are at the $20 price point in the same size packages. Frankly, they made him the biggest they could get while still fitting in the current package. They haven't had a BAF type thing in a while either so that is also out of the equation. I'm still shocked a (still $20 btw, when all other 6" super articulated lines have go up to $22-$25+) line like this with so many new sculpts is so cheap and actually offered at US retail.

Its a shame really cause this would be the perfect time to do a baf if ever. You have 2 female crew members that could use a bit of a sales boost from a baf piece and probably Usopp and Brook too. And there was already a small figure in Chopper where you could put the body. And I don't think anyone would be annoyed about the baf aspect cause if you wanted Franky chances are you were buying all the other crew members too.

Most of the other AH IP don't benefit too much from bigger packaging cause they're mostly human dudes. Its mostly OP with all the weird body shapes and hilariously tall character heights. Digimon would benefit aswell if they ever bothered to do non humanoids to begin with.

These are neat little things, though, I just picked up Sanji on a whim, not huge on one peice but 20 bucks for a decent looking dude on the shelf ain't too bad.
I think it's also nice for people to inadvertently get their kids into toys; a decently priced product in the shelf means it can be reasonably given to a kid who may not have had much of an interest otherwise, be it for a birthday or Christmas or whatever, and I think that's a good thing for the hobby in general

Don't own him personally but looking around the general reception is that he's fine enough. Has about all the articulation you'd need but the plastic cape kinda hinders the legs. Grey Sword is a softer plastic so keep that in mind too.

No, they're really not. The Saint Seiya figures had paint bleed everywhere, most noticeably on the elbow joints. Some paint applications, like on the center belt piece, aren't even fully painted. Just the front is painted and the edges are left as is which makes the figure look incredibly cheap.

You've got eyes, when you see one you may want in person you can judge for yourself. I have a Seiya and took a look at it in those same areas, no bleeding silver on the arms, the yellow is completely smooth, and the only issue is that the red is printed a mm or so to the side.

Any thoughts on what else they could make if they do a 3 figure wave to start? Eyepatch Denji with Pochita seems like a no brainer, cause Pochita. The guy with the sword, probably. After that it gets kind of murky since the only relevant characters, at least around the beginning, are also girls with pretty nondescript designs. No idea how they'd articulate Power, and Makima is pretty normal that I doubt they'd want to put her in the line so early. Then again, wouldn't be relevant but they could include a Pochita with her.

I have Roshi. He feels cheap. Legs are double jointed, but it doesn't seem to make his legs bend in more. His jacked arms can't seem to hold up his staff. Posing him feels very limited to how much his joints move. There is a skinny S.H.Figuarts version that hasn't been released, I missed out on the hermit version.

It's definitely possible. A rep for Dragon Stars stated years ago the reason they dropped doing BAF in that line was so they could focus that budget on creating more unique moulds, so with Anime Heroes being more or less an offshoot of Dragon Stars then it might explain the staggered releases.

I really wish they would maybe invest a little more in this line so that we could maybe get something equivalent to a McFarlane Megafig or Hasbro Deluxe BAF pricepoint where larger characters can get some love too. Maybe not Whitebeard big but a decently sized Akainu would be pretty sweet.

Interesting to see thanks for doing this. I remember early dragon stars they did 2 waves of 6 a year which meant 12 figures. That number is pretty close to what we see here. It does look like the number is going up in 2022 so that's good.

I got curious and decided to go back and check the Dragon Stars releases. I tried cross-referencing the release dates but even MFC seems generally unsure on when some figures got put out and I frankly don't have enough autism nor care to make a truly comprehensive list. There's a lot of figures not on here, and that's not even counting the newer 2 Packs. There was a Base Gogeta, and a bunch of the FighterZ Clones that I think were Gamestop exclusivse. There was a Super Saiyan version of the Broly movie Gogeta, that I think was a Walgreens exclusive.

They also said at one point that they stopped the BAF so that they could put the money back into the line for new sculpts and accessories and remold some of the heads, because early on the heads were terrible, and they also did a lot more straight-up repaints.

The line has definitely slowed down, but I have a feeling Covid had some to do with that too, since the 2020 figures would have already been planned, and likely, largely made, and then the last couple years, they've just produced less.

Yea I feel having at least the power up packs and 2 VS packs would've made a more accurate picture. For intents purposes something like the power up pack Goku Black with a new face sculpt and effect parts is just as much a new thing as Form 1 Frieza and Form 4 Frieza V2 with new heads. Same goes with the 2 packs, they all have new yelling faces to go with the effect parts. These might not feel new to fans but from the company perspective these are new things with new parts that are being put on shelves.

I think we need some of these other SKUs in Anime Heroes. There's a Naruto and Sasuke 2-pack coming, so maybe we could start seeing more for other lines. The 2-packs are usually just rehashes, so not too interesting, but deluxe SKUs would be useful, not just for bigger characters, but for those with accessories. For example Luffy with swappable arms, Zoro with an extra head for him to actually wield his 3 swords (though neither of these really warrant being a deluxe release, really), or Digimon with attack effects, Fushiguro with some of his summons, etc.

The Anime Heroes just in general tend to come with a lot more accessories than the Dragon Stars. Most of the Dragon Stars only come with an extra pair of hands, and that's it, outside of say, Trunks who also came with his sword and scabbard. Most Anime Heroes seem to come with multiple hands, weapons, some effects etc.

For Zoro their solution to giving him an alt head would probably be to make a different figure of him and give that the head that holds the sword. That way if you owned the original figure and say this shirtless one with the sword face you could mix and match the heads and bodies. They basically do this with Gokus.

Got my Omegamon today and it's solid. After the hot to cold water on the sword it's completely straight. The Garuru cannon seems a bit askew for some reason though. Articulation feels pretty good, and my only real issue is the connection of the biceps which for some reason don't seem completely flush. I popped them out but nothing wrong with them, so I guess it's just how mine is. Some weird glue on one of the Grey sword's horns.

Overall quite happy with it. Will open up Beelzemon soon. It's nice to be getting some Digimon action figures.

Small update in case someone has to deal with this too, pop the arms off at the bicep after heating them, put some floor polish (or whatever your preferred joint tightening method) and let it dry. Then just put it back and it should be close to perfect (my right one is just right, left could use a bit more, but it's good enough for now). A very decent figure, not disappointing like a recent Dragon Stars I bought then ended up returning.

Also they haven't even officially showed that CSM is coming, only the leak has had him. And on Amazon Beelzemon when I last checked had "5 in stock (more on the way)", and a few days back Wargreymon had a similar status that I noticed, so seems like they're doing alright.

Looking at this, the rasengan looks good, but this really doesn't look like a collector level figure. The way the articulation is done, the way the effects clip on, it just doesn't look up to snuff. Though Digimon uses similar articulation setups, the sculpts seem a lot more 'new', if that makes sense. I think they really need to go back to the drawing board and get these sculpted better, allowing the existing articulation, which should mostly be more than enough, to actually be useful (see Roshi's knees earlier in the thread). And mid-torso articulation not being standard is just really, really odd at this point. Also rework what doesn't work like the necks... they can barely even swivel for the most part. I know Omegamon's works because of the design, like no hair in the back, but a lot of the figures still have the necks too deeply inset with no room on the balls. They could honestly just take their 5" figures' articulation scheme (the Dragon Ball and/or Naruto ones), add double elbows, get a better setup for the neck, and these figures would be more than worth the price.
