>>10092583As someone who got into this series in the last 10 years, I think the problem is the lack of new blood. Even beyond the HG issues, the Macross franchise is pretty niche(you basically have to also like or tolerate idols), has very few entries, and while there aren't as many mecha as other series, but many are high priced releases. Buying a squadron of the best available figures would cost you at least $1000, more for add-on parts.
Meanwhile a lot of people get introduced to Gundam through dirt cheap figures like MSiA, or $10 model kids.

Was into Gundam as a kid/teenager bit they all began to feel very samey, and there's just so damn many mecha in the franchise it feels like you get flooded with them. I like how the leap in years between designs means the Valkyries will look so different inbetween series. Seeing the Vf-1 evolve into the VF-19 to the VF-25 is just impressive. I almost think that's why I was underwhelmed by Delta because it felt too similar to Frontier designwise.
