Probably will just switch shipping methods. What I’m really waiting for is the yen to start recovering, that’s when I’m going to pull out of most imports because the prices are going to almost double at this point when we get back to 1/1 conversion.

Honestly I've been back to using EMS a lot more lately, so I'll probably just keep doing that. With places like Hobby Genki and HLJ just letting you keep shit in private warehouse forever, I've been moving a lot of orders there and just shipping one big box every 3-4 months and averaging my shipping cost to about 6-7 USD per figure.

This. DHL is fuck off expensive where I live unless I'm ordering a big lot of figures. Air Small Package works fine enough and only takes 2 weeks most of the time.

For me, DHL is actually the cheaper option for me by 1,000-2,000yen. I wonder if DHL is still the cheaper version for me after this.

Same. I have two things set for October, one for January, and one for April. The two latter orders are already $100+ so hopefully the Yen doesn't shoot up after before then.

Same. DHL and FedEx have been cheaper than EMS for me by about that same rate ever since EMS did their price hike.
Unless DHL goes overboard I have no reason not to consider them best for cost performance

It's been a while since I've ordered from AmiAmi but do they give you the choice for other shipping options when you have to confirm payment? I know it asks when you place a pre-order what method to use and I just left it at DHL but I don't wanna get fucked.

When I really want something, I factor the cost of shipping into the total value of the product before deciding whether or not to buy it. $10 difference for fast, reliable shipping really isn't going to break the bank for me.

For Amiami, you never know the shipping cost when you order, unless you email them about the shipping estimate ahead of time. They give the shipping cost with the invoice just like the images above. Which by then it is too late to cancel, (you pay or get banned).

Shops don't set the shipping prices. Japan Post/DHL does. Unless you're trying to dodge customs/tax you're as likely to get a similar (if not more expensive) quote from Hobbygenki.

Amiami has a deal with DHL where it's a tad cheaper to ship with them through Amiami. DHL is always cheaper on Amiami for me for some reason than almost every other site.
