Skeletor, with one of those flimsy plastic masks

>>10068553 >King Hiss revealed, retains most of the original gimmick It's still disingenuous to say this. It's part swapping, not a shed skin shell like the original vintage.
Anonymous
>>10068762 Unlike the other ones, I can't really see a way they could've done that and still keep his articulation, so his loss of gimmick I find probably the most understandable, plus I do like the fact that he no longer has limp noodles for arms with the disguise off.
Rattlor however is just unforgivable.
Anonymous
>>10068787 I agree. Rattlor and Kobra Khan both could have been done without losing any of the articulation and Rattlor could still have had a swappable head if the ball joint was just kept on the end of the neck piece. Even if they gimped his neck a little, woulda been better than nothing.

What were the biggest gimmick losses before Snakes? Power punch from early figures, spring-loaded fist from Fisto, Jistu and Ninjor, Sorceress' wing spread and Orko's spasmy running. There is also Evil-Lyn's not glowing wand, infamous feature that wasn't even promoted on her box and many vintage owner didn't even knew about it. And it's not like you have to remove and Sorceress' wings and replace them with extended ones. If Mekaneck just had a neck you have to manually pull out like vintage Extendar, people would be less upset.

I'll probably still get Khan just because I need him for a full Evil Warrior roster, but I'll be skipping Rattlor and Mekaneck (and presumably Extendar when they get around to him).

I'm looking at a toy site and it says 4 new guys will come out in October, hopefully we see them locally. I definitely want a King Randor and a Whiplash. I don't care about the sun man guy or mini-comic color Trap-Jaw.

You what's kind of irritating too that, relatively speaking, there are very few characters that NEED the features. The Snakes, Mekaneck, Extendar, Dragstor, Blast-Atrak, Sy-klone. (Rio-Blast barely counts as a feature since it's just flip open panels and no one honestly expected Saurod to function even before all this) Compare that with the literally dozens of non-vintage characters and variants who never had features in the first place and no one would be looking for them. Seriously, your almost at a point where you literally never have to worry about features again anyway. Would it really kill ya to just make those last few and then you're free to be as cheap and lazy as you want with all the concept, cartoon and OC characters?
Anonymous

>>10069490 Look, I'm still glad we're getting this stuff. I'll take Dragstor without ripcoard, unflocked Moss Man or Lashor with plug-in tongue over not getting those as all.
If you're mostly interested in posing those figures then they are in fact, better than ever. Khan with water effect is better that regular spray and Snout Spout or Buzz Saw Hordak would be better with some attechments to you than with with actual working gimmicks, like plastic water stream that sticks to SS' trunk.
But, unlike Classics, most of people expected this to be modern update on vintage. And fact is that removing ripcord from Ripper is not an upgrade and it isn't even something that would really be a problem for "posers". So yes, I'll repeat, so much for this being new better vintage. It might be new DIFFERENT vintage because people might have different priorities and want different things but it's not straight up upgrade.

Through the grief of the villagers and the magic of a resident Trollan wizard the pieces were imbued with a strong power. >>10075409 This so much. $550 for this is fucking ridiculous. It should be $300 tops, and even then I feel like I'd be on the fence with it considering what it is. I am happy for the Origins line but the plastic (especially on the playsets) feels so goddamn cheap and weirdly textured. The way its painted feels lazy and rushed. The original Gray Skull was kind of a weird mess in some ways but it had a lot of soul and intrigue and plastic in the 80s just seemed so much sturdier and higher quality.
There is really nothing in the set worth shelling out $600 for and I am absolutely not getting it. I would rather spend my money on the new Lego Lion Knight's Castle, which is $400 -- still steep but somewhat justified given the quality of the brand, complexity of the build, and volume of the pieces. $600 for something like this is unconscionable.
I really hope it won't even get funded at this level and Mattel pulls it and reconsiders the price, but I know there's so many soulless fag consumers who will eat this shit up and shell out their goybux just to have this overpriced piece of shit collecting dust in their toy room.

My guess was that it's basically violent He-Man on Snake Man action and Bolty does some poison healing. I suspected 3 options.
1) Bolty will go with He-Man and heal him during battle
2) Bolt Man will heal He-Man after he gets defeated by Snakes and then He-Man will get Snake Armor for Round 2
3) Snakes attack people and Bolt Man will be just running medic tent treating civilians, royal guard and maybe even Heroic Masters while He-Man does actual fighting.
But last option seems unlikely now.

But if anything, cutting out gimmicks and demanding ridiculous prices for their toys must be getting them some extra cash flow - assuming this stuff will sell. He-Man 4-pack still didn't run out, didn't it? So we'll have to see if Snake Men and Eternia playset will make money.
But if those greedy practices pay-off they just might wrap vintage, as long as you swallow every bit of corner cutting like Deluxes that don't really do anything and don't come with extra stuff.

This is all very confusing to me because I'm tend to be very zen about stuff ending because it's good for my OCD. No more waiting for next episode or toy, you've got full picture, you're done. So if stuff gets cancelled or gets a shortrun I just say "oh well, our journey ended". But if Origins dies say after Wave 12 then we're both done and not done. That's where my OCD will freak. It's kinda like latest Ben 10 toyline that did 14 out of 15 Ben's aliens. I'm zen about Ben 10 ending, I'm zen about reboot doing as many aliens as it did and ending but what the hell, toyline, you just needed one?! I didn't even liked reboot cartoon that badly but this bugs me.

>>10076595 The majority of my Lego collection is 80s & 90s vintage sets of Castle, Space, and Pirates. There's a noticeable loss in the quality of the plastic used now, but the level of detail in the sets is much higher even if they use a lot of filler to bulk up the piece count. Lego as a brand is kind of unmatched, possibly the strongest toy brand ever created. That's what I'm referring to, mostly. They can get away with price gouging (although fans are starting to get fed up with it) but Mattel price gouging a static playset with a few basic features is unacceptable.

I got my BBTS order including:>snout spout >leech >mantenna >teela with zoar I'm a little annoyed that Mantenna is using the multi-language burst instead of the "RETRO PLAY!" one, since I'm doing a MOC collection and he's literally the only one that is different out of 30+ figures. I was also a little surprised at the cards being less than perfect (noticed a few bends/creases on some of the corners) but whatever. There's a ton of shit coming out really fast and I want to get it but I'm not sure where to buy it from because I don't want to overpay for any of it. The most exciting and ideal way to go is in the wild at Target since seeing them in a store is exciting and you don't pay a few dollars more like you might on BBTS or Amazon, but I only saw Snout Spout and Leech at my city Target (Pittsburgh) ONCE on cards that were kind of beat up. Now they're gone and the Origins stock is even smaller than ever, with the same shitty pegwarmers from wave 7. Oh, great... And when I went to look for Randor on BBTS he's sold out :|

But now we're past that, this is pain threshold.
I wonder if there is next threshold where Mattel will keep the line alive just to finish the vintage. IDK. maybe if we'll be down to 10 figures but line isn't selling they're do another crowdfund like with Eternia.
Or maybe I'm overthinking and it will be order-to-make like Grizzlor.

I gotta say, I'm kinda disappointed with Mantenna. He's my favorite Horde member and while the four articulated legs are great, the sculpting on his chest piece is so soft and washed out. The vintage had crisp sculpting on the horde logo, heck, even Leech and Grizzlor have sharp detailed sculpting on their logos.
Also, the mouth is weird in that the paint app appears to blacken the "teeth" instead of the indented spaces between them. Though, I can easily correct that with some paint if I want to, it's still a disappointment.
Semi-related, did anyone else's Grizzlor come packed with Leech's instruction sheet in the minicomic?
