>>10078510>>10078521They were (partially) made of diecast metal which was marketed as the figures being extremely tough, but it really just meant the joints loosened up way faster than if they were all plastic. It was a weird gimmick that failed to click with kids and it never caught on.
The show itself was retarded. On paper, it was an interesting idea-- an animated spinoff of 6 Million Dollar Man where Bionic Man and Bionic Woman have a family and they become a superhero team. The problem is that their team's powers are wildly inconsistent and more or less interchangeable, most of the "good" characters are selfish (if not straight up evil, like Professor Sharp), and they want to have the secret identity gimmick without making the characters wear disguises. It's like if Bruce Wayne, the famous billionaire didn't wear a mask as Batman and nobody could figure out who he was despite making no effort to hide himself. Also, the villains are all kind of bland and forgettable except Scarab.
Basically, it's a bad show with good animation attached to a line of interesting but fundamentally flawed toys, and it failed for a reason. It's an interesting conversation piece but it is definitely best left in the past. The only way I could see a reboot working out is if they changed pretty much everything except the characters' names and the basic premise of Bionic Man and Bionic Woman starting a superhero team with their kids. Even the superhero names sucked so they'd have to change those too.
